Gordon Reed
Co-founder, farms to grow
Gordon Reed, colloquially referred to as ‘Uncle Gordon’, started growing food and plants back in 1958 due to an illness. When his doctor at the time prescribed several native and wild plants to treat the aliment, he started digging in the soil. He believes that the best medicine on earth is fresh healthy foods.
Gordon has over fifty years’ experience as a small farmer, in the urban growing environments. He uses many usual and manual gardening and farming techniques, to reduce costs and stay within sustainable farming concepts taught by his father and uncles. Gordon, is known for growing exotic and tropical plants, “in cold Ohio”. He provides training in small businesses (farm) planning, marketing farm services, seed saving methods and creating a seed bank. He is president and owner of Gordon Reed & Associates, a construction estimating and contract administration. In 1972 graduated with a Degree as an Associate of Engineering with the University of Cincinnati.
