BC WINE: EXPLORE OUR SENSE OF PLACE
WINES OF BRITISH COLUMBIA MASTERCLASS
MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2022 // 3:00PM - 4:30PM
deane house //
British Columbia is moving along on its journey, a journey to discover and identify its sense of place. The characteristics of BC wines are rooted in the elements and the pristine nature that surround us. Each distinct BC region has its own unique microclimate, soil ecology and topography, where vineyards thrive in diverse soils rich in glacial deposits, benefiting from the moderating effects of bodies of water and dramatic features of geology and terrain. BC winegrowers are embracing and celebrating this regional diversity, striving to express the best qualities of their region in each bottle and show why BC wines are among the best in the world.
Quality starts in the vineyard. Featuring 13 wines from BC’s diverse regions, this masterclass will tour BC’s diverse regions with a deeper dive into understanding the history, culture and the unique elements of terroir that make BC an exciting place for growing grapes and making wine.
Although the modern BC winemaking industry is still young by world standards, the growth of the wine industry in British Columbia has been exponential over the past 30+ years. We welcome you to join wine educator, Jenny Book, and a panel of BC winemakers as they take you through this journey and discover the diversity of our local BC wines and why the world is paying attention to these exciting wine.
